One of the questions I hear most often is whether my candles are made with essential oils or fragrance oils.
As I shared in Behind Every Flame+Sugar Candle, I believe in being transparent about every ingredient that goes into my products. The vast majority of Flame+Sugar scents are crafted using therapeutic-grade essential oils, carefully selected for their purity and natural origins.
However, nature has its limitations.
At Flame+Sugar, the only scents that currently require a small amount of premium naturally derived fragrance oil are chocolate, tobacco, and coffee. To date, I haven’t found therapeutic-grade essential oil alternatives that deliver the authentic scent and performance I’m looking for.
If that changes, I’ll happily make the switch. I’m always researching new suppliers and even better ingredients.
Every scent is chosen not only for its quality but also for how it performs in our premium coconut soy wax. Whether a candle is scented entirely with essential oils or includes a small amount of naturally derived fragrance oil, my standards never change. Every ingredient is carefully selected, thoroughly researched, and used with complete transparency.
Combined with the right wax and wood wick, these thoughtfully chosen scents create the balanced, luxurious experience that Flame+Sugar is known for.
